There is no shortage of fantastic coffee shops in Manchester, particularly in the Northern Quarter. Check out our favourites (all within a short walk of Flagship NQ!) to get your daily caffeine fix from.
Federal Café (Nicholas Croft)
These guys are the Kings of brunch in Manchester. You will have seen the snaking queues on a Saturday in the Northern Quarter, and now also at their second home on Deansgate. Those queues are for good reason. Federal serve up tasty Instagrammable brunch dishes, alongside Ozone coffee. Ozone Coffee Roasters hail from New Zealand, their Hodson blend – which is Federal’s signature house espresso, is some of the best we’ve ever had. Keep it simple, go for a classic flat white. Within metres of Flagship Manchester, you’ll quickly become a regular here!
Takk (Tariff Street)
Nordic inspired Takk on Tariff Street is one of the longer standing coffee shops on this list. Takk is a firm favourite of ours for grabbing a coffee before or after a trip to Piccadilly station. It’s also a great spot to while away an afternoon over good coffee and even better cake. Their house espresso is single origin coffee ‘Finca Miravalle’ from El Salvador, they also regularly feature a guest espresso. Be sure to check out the coffee selection on the ‘Brew Bar’. Takk really know their stuff when it comes to coffee!
Idle Hands (Dale Street)
Idle Hands is one for the real coffee enthusiasts, you can always guarantee a solid coffee line-up here, regularly hosting a variety of roasters. Ask for a recommendation, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy your brew in their beautiful plant-filled surroundings and don’t forget to order a slice of pie on the side – the best sweet pie you’ll ever eat.
North Tea Power (Tib Street)
One of the OG’s of the Northern Quarter craft coffee scene, North Tea Power have been tucked away on Tib Street since 2010. Home to proper coffee, proper brunch, great cakes and cosy coffee shop vibes. Their retail shelves are a coffee lover’s dream, stocked up with all the gadgets and accessories you need to make a decent brew at home. They’ve recently undergone a bit of a refurb and they’re looking better than ever!
Just Between Friends (Tib Street)
We’ve mentioned Just Between Friends in our journal before, just around the corner from Flagship Manchester, this small but perfectly formed coffee shop ticks all the boxes. Serving up Assembly coffee, alongside some guest roasters on batch brew and the retail shelves, the coffee here is ace. They’ve always got a cracking selection of pastries and sandwiches on the counter – order a coffee and croissant and sit outside, it’s a great spot to sit and watch the Northern Quarter go by!
